What is good quality M sand?

Good Quality M Sand is manufactured through a specific process of Crushing and gradation as per IS standards and free of all impurities like silt etc.. Only a few manufacturers have the required infrastructure to produce quality M Sand. Third-Party testing can be done to check the quality of M Sand.

What is the difference between Quarry Dust and M sand?

Quarry Dust is a residue that is considered waste. It is used only for manufacturing concrete blocks or posts asphalting roads, they are of less than 2 mm thickness and not recommended and kind of construction activities. However, it is sold as M sand and it appears similar.

Does M sand contain any impurities or foreign particles?

M sand can be adulterated in the case when silt or fines are mixed to save cost and using this can lead to weak compression strength in case of concrete and can develop cracks when used for plastering

What are concrete mix proportions if M sand is used?

The concrete mix proportions are the same as river sand
M 20 ( 1 : 1.5 : 3) & M 25 ( 1: 1 : 2)

Does it require any special care like chemicals, extra curing, etc as when River Sand is used?

Not Required, however, some professionals mix river sand with M sand

Will, it develops cracks if we use Plastering M Sand?

If the plastering if between the range 0 to 2.36 mm, graded cubical, and is free of dust and silt, then the cracks or any other problem will not arise
