What is the standard size of Bricks?
The standard brick sizes range from 31/2"x 21/4"x 75/8" to 3 5/8 x 11 5/8" as measured by depth x-height x length. Manufacturers produce bricks to their own specifications but generally fall within these commonly produced sizes. These measurements are the actual size.
How many bricks will I need to order to construct a house?
On an average, you would need around 6000 to 8000 bricks to construct a house, depending on the size and design.
How are bricks made?
PGH bricks are made from clay, shale and other minerals that are molded into the ‘brick’ shape then fired (cooked) at temperatures up to 1200 C.
Are today's bricks as good as they used to be?
Yes definitely, they are better than before. Thanks to the improved technology, not only are today's bricks stronger, but they are also available in a wide variety of colors and textures.
What are the prices of bricks?

What are the specifications of bricks?
The specifications of bricks are 4 x 9 x 3 for 4 inches weighing 3.5 to 4kgs and 6 x 9 x 3 for 6 inches weighing 5 to 5.5kg in length x breadth x-height. The compression strength of 1st class bricks is not less than 10.7n/m2 and not less than 7n/m2 for the 2nd class. The water absorption percentage is not less than 15% for 1st class and less than 20% for 2nd class
How do I check the quality of bricks?
There are many tests done in order to check the quality of the bricks like Compressive strength test, Water absorption test, Hardness test, Size shape, and Color test, Soundness test and structure test some of them are done on the field and some are conducted in laboratories.
Compressive strength test: This test is done to know the compressive strength of brick. It is also called crushing strength of brick. Generally, 5 specimens of bricks are taken to the laboratory for testing and tested one by one. In this test, a brick specimen is put on crushing machine and applied pressure till it breaks. The ultimate pressure at which brick is crushed is taken into account. All five brick specimens are tested one by one and the average result is taken as brick's compressive/crushing strength.
Water Absorption test: In this test, bricks are weighed in dry condition and let them immersed in fresh water for 24 hours. After 24 hours of immersion, those are taken out from water and wipe out with a cloth. Then brick is weighed in wet condition. The difference between weights is the water absorbed by brick. The percentage of water absorption is then calculated.
The less water absorbed by brick the greater its quality. Good quality brick doesn't absorb more than 20% water of its own weight.
What are load sizes for bricks?
The load size varies from 4000 to 8000 depending on the manufacturers
