Modular kitchen shutter types

Modular Kitchen shutters can be divided into two parts, i.e. Interior material type, and shutter exterior finish type. Shutter interior material type makes can be of Plywood, MDF, HDF, Particleboard, natural woods like rubber wood, teak. Several Exterior kitchen shutter finish types are available with its own set of pros and cons.

Post Formed Shutters

Flexible decorative laminates (MICA sheets) are machine pressed on Plywood, MDF or Particle boards. They are factory made using high-pressure press technology. They do not require edge banding as the laminate is pressed on the edges to give a uniform look throughout the kitchen shutter. About 200 different shades are available in the market to choose from.

Decorative Laminate Shutters

Decorative Laminates are used on Plywood, HDF or MDF Boards. Laminated shutters can be made by carpenter manually. Their edges are usually banded with PVC tapes, Wood beadings or Aluminium profiles on all four sides. Laminated shutters can produce sharp edges which have the risk of causing damage. More than 1500 Colors along with the shade combinations like Matt or Glossy Finish can be used.

Natural Wood Shutters

Natural wood like teak, Walnut, oak, rubberwood is used as the interior shutter material and the exterior surface is polished with water-proof polish using spray guns to give a rich look to the kitchen shutters. Natural wood shutters are very expensive and not an Eco-friendly option. The natural grains in the wood give a highly aesthetic look to the shutters. Also different shade of Teak, Rosewood finish can be applied on rubber wood boards to give a feel of teak wood.

Veneered Kitchen Shutters

Veneers are thin slices of natural wood glued on to plywood boards and waterproof polished which give a natural wood finish to your kitchen shutters. Wood Species like Teak wood, Oak Wood, Walnut etc., with different patterns are available. They give a royal and a classical touch to the kitchen.

PVC Membrane Laminate Shutters

PVC membrane skins are laminated on Plywood, MDF or Particle boards. They have high water resistance and you can choose either carving or grooving designs on the shutters. They are factory made shutters. They do not require any edge banding like post formed kitchen shutters.

Painted Shutters

The interior shutters are painted with Auto coat paints on the base and a coat of Polyurethane clear coating is applied for waterproofing. The look of the painted shutter would depend upon the skill level of the painters. Shutters painted using spray guns look better than manually painted shutters.

Aluminum Shutters

Aluminum shutters are made up of aluminum sheets of different gauges. They are normally used in restaurants, however, they are slowly finding their way in houses due to numerous color options available.
